"THE ROBEVCI FAMILY HOUSE" IS BEING RESTORED FOR A SAFER EXHIBITION OF CULTURAL WEALTH

Conservation and restoration works are underway in Ohrid at the monumental complex "House of Robevci" for the rehabilitation and restoration of one of the most significant and representative buildings of the old city architecture. This is one of the largest projects of the National Institution (NI) Institute and Museum - Ohrid, for which three million denars (about 48,500 euros) have been allocated so far.

An internal reconstruction of the floors is also planned, as well as the installation of a new ventilation and heating system for the "Robevci House". The facility will also receive a new security system. The "Golden Room" is also located there, an exhibition in which about 500 gold and gilded objects from a period of time longer than 25 centuries are exhibited, as well as the golden mask.

The director of the Ohrid Institute and Museum, Goran Patchev, explains that these are construction interventions on the facades and roofs, both of the house itself and of the accompanying buildings of the monumental complex, such as the storehouse, the depot and the lapidarium.

"The extensive works for the rehabilitation and ongoing maintenance of the buildings of the monumental complex of the 'Robevci' museum complex in Ohrid continue, which also includes the auxiliary buildings 'warehouse', 'depot' and 'lapidarium', which after a long period will be put back into operation to improve the offer for visitors," says Patchev.

"With this, we will provide ideal conditions for the exhibits themselves in the facility, but also better conditions for employees and visitors. Among other things, new video surveillance, a more modern and new alarm system will be provided, especially in the Golden Room, which is of great importance to the city and the country," says Patchev.

Extensive interventions for the revitalization of the entire "Robevci" museum complex in Ohrid began last year, during which rehabilitation measures were implemented on the floor, ongoing maintenance of the roof with the replacement of the roof covering and the external carpentry of the "warehouse", and rehabilitation and ongoing maintenance of the southern facade and external carpentry of the "Robevci House".
